Last year some new routes have been found and tried out. Because of the early timing in the season, the long and the middle distance are a little bit shorter than usual. Nevertheless, at all distances, you will find great trails, ambitious climbs and challenging downhills near to Willingen. For Beginners we recommend the 53 km distance, while juniors should choose the 36 km route.
|Short distance||53 km||1.463 hm|
|Middle distance||88 km||2.463 hm|
|Long distance||119 km||3.333 hm|
|U15 - U17 distance||37 km||1.015 hm|
The short distance is about 53 km long with a difference of altitude of 1463 meters. Just shortly after the start, the participants will manage the climb of 250 meters of difference in altitude to the top of the well-known Eimberg. Heading west the Dommelturm will be reached. A rapid downhill will lead all participants to the catering point at the Diemelsee, where you can get some power for the last kilometers. A densely wooded routing passing Hemminghausen and Eimelrod will lead back to Willingen, where you can celebrate your great success.
The middle distance is about 88 km long with a difference in altitude of 2463 meters. After managing the short distance, all bikers are turning into the direction of Ettelsberg to enter another spectacular round. Just shortly after the crossroad, another catering point is waiting for the participants to refresh and recover a little bit. The course leads further on to the direction of Bergsee and Srycktal and after a long and curvy downhill into the trail region “Alter Hagen” and Titmaringhausen. A highlight will be the flowing trail right next to the Grundwasserbach at the end of your descent from the Krutenberg. At the sports ground of Titmaringhausen there is another possibility to “recharge your batteries” at the catering point. When reached the plateau “Kahler Pön” nearly all meters of difference in altitude are done. Right next to the nature reserve “Kahler and Hoher Pön”, the route leads back, passing the EWF Biathlon stadium, to Willingen to celebrate your great race.
The long distance occurs with 116 km and 3220 meters of difference in altitude. Firstly, every driver participate at the short and middle distance. Those of them, who reached the crossroad at Ettelsberg for the third round before 2pm, can decide if they want to finish or want to head up into the next adventurous round. The challenging part of this track will be the repeated climb to the Ettelsberg and Hegekopf. Afterwards the route leads through the nature reserve “Neuer Hagen” and the Bigge Downhill. The last catering station will be passed at the Ochsenkreuz. From there a last climb to the Langenberg will lead the drivers on the last descent to the finish line in Willingen. Good job!
U15 - U17 distance
The extra short track for the categories U15 and U17 is 37 kilometres long – 1.015 metres of altitude to drive. It starts immediately with 350 metres difference in altitude upwards on the legendary Hohen Eimberg, then along the federal state border between Hesse and North Rhine-Westfalia. There will be a food station after 17 kilometres where the Juniors can take some refreshment. Then the participants take a densely wooded route back to the finish line in Willingen
